    Primary Montessori Teacher Job Opening

    Job Description: Lead primary Montessori teaching in a 3-6 year old classroom certified through the state of Colorado.

    Qualifications:

    ● Applicants must be warm, kind, inviting, and patient individuals who have experience working with children ages 3-6.

    ● Primary Montessori certification

    ● Applicants should have a strong practicing Catholic faith. Staff members need to be willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

    ● Applicants should be able to easily sit on the floor for extended periods of time, bend and get up and down easily, and pick up forty pounds.

    ● Applicants should be professional and communicate well with parents

    ● Applicants must be reliable, punctual, and committed to the mission of the school.

    ● Catechesis of the Good Shepherd level 1 certification is not required but helpful for our program.

    Responsibilities:

    ● Implement the Montessori method in the classroom

    ● Setting guidelines and boundaries for students and maintaining discipline in the classroom in a peaceful and loving way.

    ● Manage transitions with the children.

    ● Take the children to Holy Mass once a week.

    ● Perform daily classroom maintenance duties such as but not limited to laundry, sanitization, disinfecting, snack preparation, lunch cleanup, dishes, naptime preparation, and maintaining floor cleanliness.

    ● Stay up to date with continuing education especially in the Colorado PDIS system and Montessori training.

    Requirements:

    ● Montessori certification

    ● Professional appearance

    ● Positive attitude

    ● References from previous employers

    ● Ability to squat, sit on the ground, lift forty pounds, and keep up with 3-6 year old children.

    ● PDIS certified for a large child care center or willingness to complete all training for the state of Colorado before starting with children

    ● Virtus safe environment training

    ● First Aid and CPR certified

    JOB SUMMARY: Under the collaboration of school administration and the direction of the Principal, Assistant Head of Lower School, and Administrative Council, the Montessori Teacher leads efforts to implement the St. Mary of the Angels and the state’s educational standards for Montessori Early Childhood. The Montessori Early Childhood teacher devises daily lesson plans from the curriculum, which should include ways for students to improve their critical thinking, functions, and social-emotional skills. The teacher is responsible for preparing hands-on engagement for students and providing students with the necessary skills to succeed.

    EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ● Planning, developing, and executing lessons that reflect the curriculum and educational standards.

    ● Adapting Montessori Early Childhood curriculum for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the

    needs of identified students or subgroups.

    ● Evaluating the academic and social growth of students.

    ● Evaluating student progress and the ability to meet course standards in knowledge and skills.

    ● Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.

    ● Planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines.

    ● Employing a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing pupils, including demonstrations and

    discussions.

    ● Utilizing educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning aids.

    ● Collaborate with the Administration and Administrative Team to maintain a quality Montessori Early Childhood

    Classroom.

    ● Maintain positive relationships and communication with colleagues and parents.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    ● Bachelor's Education - Early Childhood preferred

    ● Certification in AMI or AMS

    ● Excellent communication skills

    ● Positive collaboration skills with colleagues
